When I first read “this is my church” I read it as a term of endearment; and I thought, do I have that same endearing feeling toward my church? Not that it disqualifies the church or me for that matter but I think it is a factor to consider. I want to think and feel that way, just not sure I do at the moment. God is still good and in control.

It’s just hard to interact with the family of God sometimes. I want to focus on the good more now. I started my Substack because I was hurting so bad and writing was a pathway for me to heal. I get heat for being “negative” about church life - not from you - I understand why people leave churches and I don’t like that. I yearn for peace among God’s people.

There’s a difference between being negative and pragmatic/realistic. We can just continue to pray for the body of Christ and try not to be part of the problem.

Amen to that.

Isn't God building HIS church? It’s not MY church at all, just the fellowship I attend and serve. The moment it becomes my church, it ceases to be the Lord's.

No argument from me.

“It really is this simple:

1. Love God.

2. Love your neighbor.”

What a concept! I’m aghast that that God didn’t explicitly put that in the “it is written” reference set … oh wait! He did when he was approached by the board of his local synagogue wanting to know the great commandment.

Jesus went straight to the first tablet of the Mosaic Law and then right across the page to the second tablet; you know the ones written in stone? Now that is a hard “it is written” if I ever felt one.

Ah the Decalogue … an “IIW” ever, but I digress.

Jesus answered them directly stating the whole law in itself; law 1 tablet 1 sections 1-5: Love God … and eased right into law 2 tablet 2 sections 6-10.

Even being so bold as to couple them into a single law: On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. What a concept!

YES, It really is this simple:

1. Love God.

2. Love your neighbor.

But lawyers, board members, bored members, and those in power (imagined or real) need complexity … the delineation of omniscience.

Yeah I hope that works out for them at the Great White Throne.

To follow Forrest Gump’s lead: that’s all I have to say about that … Ergo I go.

The Lord cause His Face to shine upon you and give you Peace ☕️🕊️.
