Thoughts on Fear
So with the advent of being able to write within the Substack App I will probably write a lot more shorter posts. For example this one.
My wife and I have been talking a lot about fear. How we tend to operate in regards to just “being afraid”.
How we make decisions based on fear. A lot of fear based decisions are grounded in how others will respond. How other people will think about you.
Why does this matter so much in our lives? Why do we genuinely care about what other people think? Is it because we desire to be loved and liked, to be accepted by all? Do we really need the approval of others to feel validated?
As a pastor I wanted to be liked and loved by all. As I’ve gotten older and matured more in the faith I realize that being liked and loved by everyone is a lie. It simply will not happen. As I preach through Scripture a funny thing occurs: people get offended. In that offense people do not care as much for me. Do I shy away from God’s truth to please man? Galatians 1:10 tells me otherwise.
This is just a small example of how fear operates in our (My wife and I) lives.
How do you respond to fear?
Do you give in to please others?
Do you seek validation from people or approval because you cannot bear the thought of rejection?
These are real life questions that we shy away from because we are afraid of the answers.
Have a blessed evening everyone. May The Lord grant peace in our lives.
