I am still writing the “Cultural Christianity” series but this thought came through my mind this morning as I was eating my breakfast and I wanted to write a quick blurb about it. I was remembering an exchange I had with a church attender awhile back where I had sent them a text message that simply read: I prayed for you.
Their response: Why?
Has that ever happened to you? Have you texted someone or just told someone that you were praying for them and they either said “why” or in another’s case actually got angry with me for telling them that (I know…right?) why would you (a professing believer in Jesus Christ) ask your pastor “why” or get angry when they text you to simply say “I’m praying for you.”. I’m just praying for the people that God has put in my life - and you have to ask why?
Do you not need prayer? It truly does boggle my mind.
Again, just a thought that ran through my mind this morning and I was wondering if any of you out there have ever experienced that.
Have a blessed Labor Day weekend,
Scott
